Pursuit Supports The Edith Borthwick School at Summer Picnic

Last Saturday, we were a participant in supporting The Edith Borthwick School at their summer picnic. Children and families revelled in a day packed with fun at the annual event.

The Edith Borthwick School is a highly successful community all age special school for people with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and autism.

The special school, for learners aged 3-19, welcomes existing and potential pupils and their families to an annual summer picnic. At the event, they enjoyed bouncy castles, craft stalls, gifts made by the school’s learners, plus football on the playing field. Headteacher, Maggie Loveday, also bravely took to the stocks, and children paid £1.00 for two shots with a wet sponge!

Our MD has helped The Edith Borthwick School for 40 years. At the age of 16, Lorraine volunteered at the school and, since setting up Pursuit in Braintree, has remained committed to assisting them.

We supported the summer picnic to ensure schoolchildren got the chance to meet their new classmates before the summer holidays. We also provided free bucket hats. The initiative is part of our commitment to support our local community.

Lorraine said: “The Edith Borthwick School has a special place in my heart. I am passionate about supporting my local community and I am always looking for ways for Pursuit to give back. It was great to see the children and their families enjoying a fun family day out, whilst meeting their new teachers and classmates.”
