Our Women in Leadership Group met again on 16 July to discuss a range of interesting topics. At Pursuit, we believe it’s important for leading HR professionals to meet regularly to keep current with best practice, share views and experiences.
Our Women in Leadership workshops offer professionals the chance to tackle tricky topics, ask questions and gain advice about the workplace.
Once again, we were joined by legal expert, Cas Carrington, partner at KLC Employment Law. Cas talked us through a number of subjects, including:
- – Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment (TUPE) rights
- – Contract changes
- – New sexual harassment law – The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) 2023
- – Labour’s plan for employment matters
We explored each subject in great detail and our group got the chance to ask Cas questions and gain clarification about current legal changes.
Due to the recent change in government, we felt it was important to dive into Labour’s plans for employment matters. Their immediate plans are as follows:
- – Employment Bill
- – Legislate within 100 days of gaining office
- – Labour’s Plan to Make Work Pay
- – Plan for draft Race Equality Act
- – Trade Union law reform:
- – Repeal of Strikes Act 2023
- – Repeal Trade Union Act 2016
- – Unions have legal right to access workplaces
- – Simplify the statutory recognition procedure
- – Sector wide pay agreements
- – Online balloting
- – Duty to inform new employees of the right to join a Trade Union
Should you require any more information about this, please contact Lorraine directly, and she would be happy to discuss this with you: lorraine.phair@pursuitgroup.co.uk.
Overall, it was a brilliant morning where we gained invaluable insight into the current state of play within the industry. Despite the weather, Lorraine wanted to bring summer to the office, so we enjoyed some light bites and Pimms on the terrace, which was enjoyed by all!
This was our third Women in Leadership workshop of the year, with our previous sessions taking place in February and May 2024. Since the group was formed, our Women in Leadership Group has learnt a lot about a range of HR topics:
- – mental health awareness
- – tackling a disengaged workforce
- – dismissals
- – inclusivity
- – disciplinaries and grievances
Our Women in Leadership workshops give professionals the opportunity to have a lively discussion, take part in question and answer sessions with an experienced legal professional, and learn about a wide range of HR-related subjects.
Lorraine has also been asked for information on salary benchmarking by a few clients. She will be working hard with our marketing team in August to gather this information. We’re hoping to publish this in September.
If you are an HR professional and you’re interested in our workshops, please email Lorraine directly and she’ll be happy to speak with you: lorraine.phair@pursuitgroup.co.uk.
